Swahid Peoli Phukan College came into existence in the year 1970 and the college is presently offering education as a pioneering institution in the local region. The college began its educational journey with just 13 students and right from its inception, it has been growing considerably. The college celebrated its silver jubilee in the year 1995 and in the year 2004, the college earned B grade status from the NAAC based on the contribution made and performance of the college in the higher educational arena.

Swahid Peoli Phukan College offers three-year degree course in arts, science and commerce stream of education apart from offering higher secondary education in these streams. Some of the details regarding degree courses offered by the institution are given below:

Bachelor of Arts:

The Bachelor of Arts course extends to a period of three years and this course includes compulsory subjects like MIL, Environmental Studies and English. The core subjects offered are rural development, statistics, mathematics, sociology, political science, geography, history, education and economics.

Bachelor of Science:

In this three-year course, environmental studies and English are offered as compulsory subjects, while the core subjects offered are rural development & statistics, economics, geography, geology, zoology, botany, mathematics, chemistry and physics.

Bachelor of Commerce:

This three-year course includes English and environmental studies as compulsory subjects with core subjects being business environment & rural development, business environment, financial accounting, frame work, business regulatory and business communication.

Handique State Open University and Indira Gandhi National Open University.

Special courses:

For the development of English knowledge of the students, the college also offers the special course spoken English to the students. Apart from this, library classes are made compulsory to the students.
