Vrandavan Institute of Nursing Education came into existence in the year 2005 with the objective of rendering health services, caring and nurturing for the community as a whole. The institute was established by the Bhagirathi Surya Naik Memorial Trust and it offers nursing education with affiliation from the Goa University.

Course Details:

Vrandavan Institute of Nursing Education offers Bachelor of Science in nursing course with affiliation from the Goa University. The duration of this course is four years and the academic term begins from the month of June every year and ends during the month of May the following year. The university examination for each year is conducted by Goa University during the first week of May every year. The fourth year of the course is divided into two with first six months for final year and the second six months is dedicated towards developing of nursing skills of the students. During this period, students are placed in specialized health care facilities, emergency units and intensive care units for practical education.

Course eligibility:

For getting into the B. Sc nursing course offered by the Vrandavan Institute of Nursing Education, women candidates, who completes 17 years of age as on the 31st December of the year of admission are eligible to seek admission. They should have completed higher secondary certification examination or equivalent course with biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics subject in the first attempt and must have secured not less than 45% of aggregate marks. They should also be medically fit to join the course.

Clinical Experience:

As mentioned earlier, the last six months of the B. Sc nursing course is dedicated towards offering practical clinical experience to the students and therefore students are placed in the following hospitals:

• Vrandavan Hospital

• Rural Community Health Centre

• Urban Community Health Centre

• Asilo Hospital

• Goa Medical College

Faculty members accompany the students during their clinical work to make sure that the best learning takes place under the able guidance of the faculty member. According to the curriculum requirement, even shift duties are also arranged for the students.
