Physics and chemistry are two vital scoring subjects in West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam. Students appearing for the exam not only need to know these subjects by heart but also they need to clear their base on these two subjects. Many tricky and lengthy questions of these subjects appear in the paper.

Qualification for appearing in this exam:

Students appearing for this exam should have cleared their 10+2 exam with more that 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Students who don’t have these three subjects in 10+2 are not eligible to appear for this exam.

Score Calculation:

With every wrong attempt, students will lose 33.33% of marks and more than one answer for a single question is indicated as a wrong answer.

Mode of the Exam:

West Bengal Joint Entrance exam is a completely a paper pencil based exam. The instructions are specifically given in a booklet which will be provided with the answer sheet in the examination hall. All questions are to be answered in a specially designed answer sheet given to the candidates in the exam hall.

Paper Format:

West Bengal Joint entrance paper consists of multiple choice questions, i.e. with four options in which there is a single correct answer. This paper contains 4 different sections (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology). Every correct answer is equivalent to four wrong answers in the paper. Physics and Chemistry individually holds 50 mark each, i.e. a total of 100 marks when combined.

Time Allotted:

Time allotted for this paper is divided among the sections. For mathematics time allotted is 2 hours, For Physics and chemistry combined time allotted is 2 hours and for Biology time allotted is 2 hours. The total time allotted for the exam is 6 hours.
