The Gujarat Agricultural University Act 1969 was cancelled by the government of Gujarat and a new Gujarat Agricultural University Act 2004 was promulgated. As a result of this, four new agricultural universities were established out of the former Gujarat Agricultural University from the 1st of May 2004. Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University is one among the four and this university was devoted for locating particular agricultural research. Therefore, six districts in the state of Gujarat were brought under the jurisdiction of this university and they are Kutch, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana and Gandhinagar. The main campus of the university is located at Sardarkrushinagar, which is 27 km away from Palanpur, which is the headquarters of the district of Banaskantha. Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University was established with the responsibilities of promoting workforce development in the faculty of basic science, home science, veterinary and agriculture by offering courses at UG and PG level. The other responsibilities of the university include introducing the application of new technologies in the field of modern agriculture so as to enhance and sustain the production in this field thereby enabling economic and social development of the region, develop the intellectual abilities of the students and to enhance connections with different organizations to ensure that the resources of the university are utilized at the optimum level. The main vision of the university is to enhance income of landless livestock owners and farmers in the northwestern and northern part of the state of Gujarat. The university has adopted natural and integrated genetic livestock management and resource management to attain relevance and scientific excellence in the field of agriculture.
