The foundation of any course is laid down in its first year of studies and so a thorough knowledge of the subjects taught in the first year of any course is of utmost importance. The B.Sc 1st Year Botany Paper-I: Protophyta, Thallophyta, Bryophyta and Pteridophyta Paper taught under the Kuvempu University is one of such key subjects. The classification of plants and animals are very important for detailed analysis and study of them. Their proper conservation and need also requires a good classification and hence the importance of the Botany Paper I is well understood.

Pattern of the Paper:

The paper is divided into four broad sections of simple answer type, short answer type, medium answer types and long answer types. All the sections are compulsory to answer, however internal options are present in some of them. The first section consists of ten simple questions of 1 mark each which needs to be answered in a word, phrase or a sentence. Any five questions of 3 marks and 6 marks each have to be answered from the second and third section respectively and any three questions of 10 marks each has to be answered from the last section.

Key Points to remember for the exam:

The exam is of 3 hours duration and the total marks allotted for it is 85. Drawing diagrams wherever necessary will be helpful to score better.
