About the subject:

Optoelectronic and optical instrumentation paper is a subject that not only deals with the study of normal instrumentation for optics, but also deals with the instruments that has the combined effect of the electronics as well as optical physics.

Type of question asked:

Question is asked from almost every part of the syllabus. The question paper has multiple choice questions, short answer questions, and long descriptive questions. This means that the question paper will have almost all kind of question in it. On an average, the questions are straight forward to the topic.

Paper pattern:

The question paper has three different kind of question type, and that is why they are grouped according to their types. The multiples choice questions are given in Group A; Short descriptive answers are in Group B; and the long descriptive questions are in Group C of the paper. There are all together 13 MCQs, out of which only 10 should be answered. Each MCQ will give the candidate 1 marks. There are no negative marks for a wrong one. The second Group has 5 short descriptive answers out of which only 3 are supposed to be answered. Each question in this group is of 5 marks each. The last group has long descriptive kind of questions. Each question is of 15 marks each. There are 5 such questions and any 3 are to be answered.

Total marks and Time allotted:

The time allotted to the candidates for answering 10 MCQs, 3 short answers, and 3 very long answers is only 3 hours. The total marks that these questions constitute are 70.

Tips for good marks:

Solving the previous 5 years questions is very effective in WBUT for earning good marks. Most questions get repeated and thus one can easily secure good marks.
