Mehboob-Ul-Alam College of Education came into existence in the year 1996 and the college holds the pride of being the first of its kind in the whole district of Bandipore. The college is recognized by the Government of Kashmir and it is affiliated to the Kashmir University. The college is located at a distance of about 50 kms from the city of Srinagar.

Course details:

As the name of Mehboob-Ul-Alam College implies, it offers Bachelor of Education course, whose duration is one year. The academic session normally starts from the 1st of May every year and annual examination is normally conducted during the month of November by the Kashmir University. The college offers B. Ed course in Hindi and in English medium for all papers except for Modern Indian Language subject, where the medium of instruction shall be the concerned language.

Apart from B. Ed course, Mehboob-Ul-Alam College of Education is also planning to introduce Master of Education course shortly.

Eligibility requirement:

Candidates with degree certification in any stream of education from the Kashmir University or any other university approved by the Kashmir University by securing not less than 45% (40% for reserved category) of marks are eligible to apply for the B. Ed course. Not only candidates under 10+2+3 scheme, but also students who have completed their 10+2+2 pattern of education and presently working as teacher in any government or government recognized institution with two years working experience are eligible to apply to the B. Ed course offered by the Mehboob-Ul-Alam College of Education.

Selection procedure:

Selection of candidates for B. Ed course offered by the colleges working under the Kashmir University is done by the university, which normally produces the list of selected candidates. The university generally forms an admission committee, which screens the documents submitted by the candidates for admission and prepares the list of selected candidates for each of the B. Ed colleges. The candidates should report to the college to which they are admitted and should pay the fee prescribed by the college and should fill up the admission form issued by the college for admission.
