Dr. Bababsaheb Ambedkar Marathawada University (BAMU) was established on August 23, 1958 by Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. Initially the university was started in a two storied building belonging to the middle school situated in Aurangpura, which was offered by the Government of Bombay. Later the university constructed its own buildings on the University campus. Marathwada college is affiliated to the Osmania University and it was established in the year 1958. The affiliation period of the nine colleges with the Osmania University expired on October 31, 1958.
