Eligibility criteria:

IN order to qualify for the entrance test for MCA, the student must be a graduate in BCA, B Tech or BE. Te student must have secured a minimum of 50 %. A 5% relaxation is there for SC/ST students.  The student should have opted for Mathematics in their Standard 12th exams.

Nature of Entrance Test:

PAM CAT (Punjab Admission MCA Common Aptitude Test) is the standardized entrance test to qualify for MCA courses under Punjab Technical University, Punjabi University and Guru Nanak University.

Structure of the PAM CAT:

PAM CAT comprises of two sections. Section 1 has 120 objective based questions which need to be completed in 2 hours and 15 minutes.  Section 1 comprises questions on General Knowledge, Mental Reasoning and Verbal skills. The second section has 50 questions to be completed in 45 minutes only. The second section will test the students in Computer Science and Mathematics.

Syllabus for PAM CAT:

There is a well defined structure for PAM CAT unlike many entrance tests of other states for MCA. In Mathematics, students have to be well versed in Number System, Coordinate Geometry. Functions Trigonometry, Quadratic Equations and In equations, Sequence and Series Matrices and Mathematical Equations. In the Computer Science section, students need to know Computer Systems, Computer Architecture, Data structures, Data processing and Programming Languages.

Punjab has many institutes which are considered the best for technical education. MCA from any of the good institute will guarantee a career in one of the big IT firms in the country.
