National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapally or more popularly known as NIT, Tirichy, is a premier engineering college in India, which is ranked no. 1 among all the National Institutes of Technology. The institute has undergraduate as well as postgraduate programs in Engineering and Technology, and high end research and development work are done as well.

The official website of NIT Tirichy is a balanced one, with all the colors it can have. Good in presentation and design and highly structured. Further it doesn’t have too many effects as well so it is easy to load as well, in very slow systems. Further the links are properly structured, and well placed, so as to provide the user with a comfortable look and feel. This is actually an example of how a perfect educational website should look like.

• In the center of the website, there lies the picture of the institute while the links are spread in all four corners of the page. On the left side is a menu list consisting of the following links, viz, About, Administration, Academics, Research and Consultancy, Student Welfare, Right to Information Act, Other Links, Contact, National Institute of Technology, Puducherry.

• On the right side there are four tabs, containing various lists, namely, News, Events, Notices and Downloads, and Quick Links

• Just below the picture lies the links to various infrastructure facilities available in the campus, viz, Computer Center, lecture Hall complex, Library, Messes, Hospital, Hostels, T&P, Sports Centre, Swimming Pool, Shopping Center.

• On the extreme bottom lies various links with headings Academics, Admission Procedure, Student Life, and other links.

Overall the website is properly organized and is well placed. Also the links to the website are also good, and the website doesn’t use much of flash. Simple css and javascript are used, and the outward appearance is good. Since the site is small, hence requires less time to load. Overall this site is an excellent side of an educational institute like NIT Tirichy.
