The university also known as CSK HPKV is an agricultural university located at Palampur in Himachal Pradesh, India. It was set up in the year 1978. It served as an extension to the existing College of Agriculture which was established in 1966. The university is recognised by India’s National Board of Accreditation, that is, NBA and The Indian Council of Agricultural Research, that is, ICAR. The main focus of the university is Hill Agriculture. The capital and investments of the university and its land and other facilities are funded by the State government of Himachal Pradesh and ICAR. Other funds are from the fees and other sources.

The CSK HPKV has served as a centre of excellence in the field of giving knowledge and education in agriculture, allied sciences and other branches of learning. It also imparts education by means of research and it aims at extending scientific knowledge to the farmers in rural areas of Himachal Pradesh. It works for advancement of learning and knowledge. The university has immensely contributed in the process of transformation of farming scenarios in Himachal Pradesh.

The university is located at an elevation of 1,250 metres at Palampur in Himachal Pradesh. It is well connected to other places via roadways and airways. Buses are available to very easily in order to reach the university.

There are four constituent colleges of the university. Each college has departments dealing with various fields of agriculture, home sciences, animal sciences and basic sciences. The university offers under graduate courses, master degree programs and doctoral programs to its students.

The university has 5 advanced research centres. They are located at the main campus at Palampur.

The facilities provided by the university serve as a source for the development of its students. The library of the university is the ocean of knowledge. There is a heavy collection of books, magazines, journals etc in the library.
