Pattern of CBEE:

Part A:

It is comprised of multiple choice type questions at the level of 10+2 in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for M.Sc Biotechnology, M.Sc Agri -Biotechnology

Part B:

It consists of multiple-choice questions of bachelor’s level in the subjects of Physics, Biology (e.g., Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology) and Chemistry for M.Sc Biotechnology, M.Sc Agri -Biotechnology

MTech Biotechnology:

It is comprised of two groups, Technology and Life Sciences, with different combination of subjects:

Eligibility for CBEE:

M.Sc (Biotechnology):

For seeking admission to the M. Sc biotechnology course, candidates must have completed bachelor’s degree from an approved university with not less than 55% of marks in any of the disciplines given below:

• BDS

• MBBS

• B. Sc Physical Assistant

• Engineering/Technology

• Pharmacy

• Veterinary & fisheries sciences

• Agriculture

• Biology

• Physics

M.Sc (Agriculture)/M Veterinary Science):

The applicants need to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, with a minimum of 55% marks in any of the following disciplines - Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH), Agriculture, Horticulture or Forestry, Dairy Technology, B Tech (Biotech), B Tech (Horticulture) or Sericulture, according to the requirement of the participating university.

M.Tech (Biotechnology):

The candidates must have a BE/BTech degree from a recognized university, with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in any of these disciplines - Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Technology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B Pharma, Chemical Technology, or MSc. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics. (Also BTech/ BE in Electrochemistry, Bioengineering and MSc in Chemistry & Physics in case of Anna University and MSc in Bioengineering in case of West Bengal University of Technology)
