It depends on the institution that is offering the program. Those students who are graduates in Business Administration, Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Applications etc can also apply for the Information Science course too.

Candidates who have finished their course successfully can find jobs in sectors like Public and Government libraries, Universities, News agencies, foreign embassies, photo & film libraries, Museum and galleries etc. Those library technicians who are self-employed can get jobs as counselors, documenters, catalogue recorders and researchers. The remuneration of graduates in information science will vary according to his/her eligibility, knowledge and skill & the category and milieu of the hiring establishment. Assistant librarians are considered to have the same grades as Lecturers; Deputy Librarians as Readers and Librarians as Professors.
