Tamil Nadu Open University conducts many courses and MA Sociology course is one of that. MA Sociology course is a Post graduate course and the First year students need to give 5 papers.

The names of the papers are Study of Indian Society, Research Methods in Sociology, Principles of Sociology, Sociological Theories and Urban and Rural Sociology. All the papers have similar paper pattern.

Each paper is maximum of 75 marks and the given time duration to complete the paper is 3 hrs.  Each paper is divided in 2 parts. The Part A has 5 questions and the student need to answer the 3 question out of those 5 questions. Each question is of 5 marks. So Part A in total is of 15 marks. The answer should not exceed more than 1 page for each answer.

Part B in total covers 60 marks and the student has to answer 4 questions out of 7 questions. Each question is of 15 marks. The answer should not exceed for more than 5 pages for each answer. There is no separate time duration is given for the Part A and Part B.
