Awadhesh Pratap Singh University is one of the premier universities in India. This university is christened after Captain Awadhesh Pratap Singh, son of a discerned patriot and freedom fighter and is also known as APSUR. Awadhesh Pratap Singh University was started in 20th July 1968 and is recognized by University Grant Commission popularly known as UGC in 1972 explaining its standards of education. It is also the member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and All Commonwealth Association of Universities (ACAU).

This autonomous establishment is spread across 246 acres of land mass, is situated in rewa, Madhya Pradesh. Located at foots of Vindhyas, Its campus is very close to nature along with being environment friendly.  The campus area is free from hustle of the city life and has a architecture based on ancient traditional ashrams. It covers various colleges and schools under its jurisdiction. Over 60 colleges located across various districts of Rewa, Sidhi, Shahdol, Umariya and Satna along with around 21 Sanskrit colleges and more than 80 Sanskrit schools all over the state of Madhya Pradesh. This teaching cum affiliated institution is known to develop sound skills in their students. They are also known for excellent faculty, with prosperous knowledge.

Awadhesh Pratap Singh University offers many undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various subjects ranging from streams like science, commerce and arts. These courses are basically divided into three categories namely, regular courses, self-supporting courses and correspondence courses. Several departments form the university complex like Computer Science, Environmental Biology, Science, Humanities, Ambedkar Bhawan (Hindi Department) amongst various others. It aims at producing leaders by its holistic approach in education that enables their students to be successful in their chosen forte. Basic amenities like hostel, health care center, sports among others. It also has a large Gymnasium hall, Yoga hall and a big stadium. There is also a temple of lord Shiva for recreational activities.

Educational Streams

It is a teaching-cum-affiliating University with its jurisdiction over more than 60 colleges situated in the districts of Rewa, Sidhi, Shahdol, Umariya and Satna. A large number of Sanskrit colleges spread all over Madhya Pradesh are also under its jurisdiction. The University complex is comprised of the departments of Environmental Biology, Physics, Science Block, Humanities Block, Ambedkar Bhawan (Hindi Department), Tribal Centre, Computer Centre, and Vikram Space Physics Centre.

Facilities like Hostels, Health centre, Sports, NCC, and NSS are available in the university. The campus also has supplementary facilities like canteen, Xerox, STD and a small shopping center. A large Gymnasium hall, Yoga hall and a big stadium as well as a Lord Shiva temple are also situated in the university campus. There are branches of Allahabad Bank, Employment Bureau and Indian Post Office as well as Medical dispensary. The Central Library has enough material to take care of the educational requirements of the staff and the students.

Awadhesh Pratap Singh University has been christened after Captain Awadhesh Pratap Singh, a renowned freedom fighter. It came into being on the 20th July 1968 and got UGC recognition in February 1972.
