Marathi is one of the languages in the SSLC examination. The exam of Marathi is a three hour exam with maximum marks of 125. The pattern of the exam has been described in the following.

The exam is divided into 2 parts. Part A consists of 50 questions and part B consists of 26 questions. The questions in Part-A are all objective type ones. Each question has four alternative answers. Students have to write the answer of their choice in the space given after each question. The number of questions in this section is 50 and each question is of 1 mark. So the total of this section is 50 marks.

Part B consists of 26 or at times 28 questions. This part contains all types of questions-from short answer type questions to long answer type questions. The short answer type questions are of 2 marks, and 3 marks. The long answer type questions are of 4 marks and 5 marks. Questions are based on texts included in the syllabus. Questions from grammar are also there. Some questions are from composition. They include essays, letters, paragraphs etc. letters can be of any type. The marks carried by these questions are 5.
