The foundation stone of Vardhman Mahavir Medical College was laid by Dr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the year 2001 on the 17th of December and the college is coming under the jurisdiction of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The building of Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College was dedicated to the nation by Shri M. Hamid Ansari on the 20th of November 2007.

The college admits students to different courses on the basis of common entrance test conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
WHO Training Programmes:
Vardhman Mahavir Medical College is offering several World Health Organization Training Programmes. The college is offering 18 different short-term courses under WHO category and the maximum course duration for these courses is three months. Candidates are admitted to courses under this category are nominated by Ministry of Family Welfare & Health. Students taking up courses under this category are offered stipend as per the norms set by WHO.
