for general candiadates..the age of a candidate sitting for the exam should be within 21 to 30 years..u can appear for the exam if u have a graduate degree and u lie in this age limit..

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:

Candidate should have minimum graduation degree with any discipline from a recognized university.

AGE CRITERIA:

For General category candidate,age should be between 21 to 30 years
For OBC category candidates age should be between 21 to 33 years
For SC/ST category candidates,only minimum age is required i.e 21 years.

The minimum eligible age to appear for civil service examination is 21 years, which means you must have attained the age of 21 years.

The maximum age limit is 30 years for candidates belonging to general category, 33 years for candidates belonging to OBC category and 35 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

Mostly civil services exam is taken in a month of Feb. (Preliminary). Notification come in moth of December- January.

Basically IAS exam is a slang used for Civil services examination. It is conducted by UPSC every year. UPSC is the individual authority to take care of all the examination process of civil services examination.

Age Limit for civil services exam 2012 is given below in detail

Age Limit
- 21 to 30 year (GEN Candidates)
- 3 year age relaxation - OBC Candidates

One more thing you should remember that only 4 chances are there for general category and 7 for SC/ST and OBC

I.A.S i.e Indian Administrative Service Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

This examination was conducted by Upsc every year.To become a I.A.S Officer then you need to appear for the Civil Service Examination.

Civil Service Examination consist of Preliminary,Main and Interview.This year preliminary examination was already completed and the examination of the results was already announced and Main Examination is held on 29/October/11.
