Dayanand Ayurved College and Hospital was established in the year 1898 in the city of Lahore. Later in the year 1947 all the immovable and movable properties of the college had to be left at Lahore due to partition and the college was re-established at the city of Amristar. But, due to inadequacy of space, the college was moved to the city of Jalandhar in the year 1953.

Course Details:

Dayanand Ayurved college is offering Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medical and Surgery course and the curriculum of the course includes studies of diagnosis of pathological state of body commonly known as disease, detailed information regarding animal products, minerals and plants as medicine, metaphysics, physiology, human anatomy, preparation of different herbo mineral formulations and management & treatment of different diseases.

Duration of course:

The duration of B.A.M.S course offered by the college is five-and-half years. The total duration of the course is divided as 18 months each for first, second and third profession and one year of internship. The internship programme can be completed by the students in the hospital attached to the college and on completion of this internship programme, students will be awarded BAMS degree.

Admission and mode of selection:

The total number of students admitted by Dayanand Ayurved College every year is 50, out of these 25 seats are government quota seats and 25 seats are management quota seats. The management quota seats are further divided into eight seats for NRI students and 17 seats for Indian students. The government quota seats will be filled on the basis of recommendation by the admission committee appointed by the government according to the merit secured by the students in the PMET examination conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. Management quota will also be filled on the basis of PMET, but NRI students need not attend PMET, they are admitted on the basis of marks secured by them in PCB subjects in the qualifying examination.
