D. Banumaiah’s College of Commerce & Arts was established in the year 1949 and the college got permanent affiliation from the University of Mysore from the year 1966. Initially, the college started to offer degree course only in the faculty of commerce, later arts faculty was introduced in the year 1959 and from the academic year 1975-76 the college began to offer BBM Course.

Eligibility for Admission:

For getting admission to the above-mentioned courses, candidates must have completed their two-year pre-university course conducted by the Karnataka state board or any other examination approved by Mysore University.  If a candidate has completed three-year diploma in secretarial or commercial practice from the technical education department of Karnataka Government, he/she can get direct admission to the second year of the BBM/B. Com course.

Examinations:

University examination will be conducted at the end of every semester and there will be skill development examination before theory examinations. Apart from these, the college will conduct examinations at regular intervals and the students should attend these examinations.

Infrastructure:

D. Banumaiah’s College of Commerce & Arts is provided with adequate number of classrooms and other infrastructural facilities. There is a well-furnished auditorium, open-air theatre, audio-visual equipments for multimedia shows, state-of-the-art computer lab with internet facility, well-stacked library with a collection of over 60,000 books, 75 daily newspapers, journals, periodicals and reading room.

Extra-curricular activities:

The college lays emphasis for all-round development of students offering wide opportunities to the students to hone their talents. Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are conducted by the college throughout the year and the students are excelling in inter-university and inter-collegiate competitions in literary events, drama, dance, music, debate, etc…
