Government Degree College for Women located at Baramullah was established in the year 1986 and it started to function from the government girls higher secondary school located at Baramullah. Later, the college was shifted to its own campus in the year 1995 and several new courses were introduced after this. The college is affiliated to Kashmir University located at Srinagar.

Admission Process:

Admission is made on the basis of the intake capacity of the college. For getting admission to the science courses, candidates must possess at least 40% of marks at the higher secondary level. Admission to BCA, which is professional course, is made on the basis of entrance exam conducted by Kashmir University.

Library in the College:

The library of the college is housed in a spacious building that is situated at the center of the college. It has a collection of over 26000 books pertaining to computers, commerce, social science, sciences and arts. It subscribes for a number of magazines, newspapers, journals, and special volumes like conference proceedings, non-book materials, project reports, technical reports, encyclopedias, manuals and handbooks are also available to students.
