Petroleum Engineering is one of the most important sector as per industrialization is considered. This course is specialization in education linked its base in upstream of petroleum industry. This course of study is concerned with hydrocarbons, either it may be of natural gas or crude oil. This includes activities like finding and producing hydrocarbons. It is the most important fuel as a source of energy. It is observed that inflow of new minds in this field is vital for the industry.
The course is very much popular among the students as it has having good job opportunities. This is because of increasing industries. Every day more no. of petroleum engineers is required in exploring the new sites and production. Students with new ideas are preferred. In this competitive market of low price, new ideas are welcomed which helps in production and benefits the company. The salary of the petroleum engineers is also quite high as compared to other fields.
The fee structure of petroleum engineering varies from college to college. The amount of fees is as lower to Rs. 19000 in govt. colleges and in many other it is as high as Rs. 95000. Few famous and renowned colleges from where one can involve in this course are ISM Dhanbad, Maharashtra Institute of Technology, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun. ISM Dhanbad charges only Rs. 19000 for this course whereas University of Petroleum and Energy Studies charges a huge amount of Rs. 95000 for the same course.
There are very few colleges like ISM Dhanbad which have seats reserved for OBC, SC and ST. there is also fee relaxation for SC and ST. Candidates falling in this category have to pay Rs. 5800 for the same. However, in other colleges than this there is only seats reserved quota at the time of admission.
