Pediatrician- How to become a Pediatrician?
A Pediatrician is a specialist who gives treatment to infants, children and teenagers. There are many colleges and universities in India that offers courses in Pediatrics course. Most of the institutions present the courses at the PG level (Doctor of Medicine). After finishing this program, the candidates can find employment in any hospital for children. It is also possible for them to become specialists in Pediatric ophthalmology/ endocrinology or work as a consultant for kids. The remuneration in this field will depend upon the qualification of the candidate, his/her experience and the standard of the firm that hires them.
Qualifying Exam
There are many exams that are being conducted for recruiting candidates for the pediatrics course. Some of them are: CET Conducted by National Board of Examinations, Maharashtra Superspeciality Entrance Test (MH SSET), AIIMS Entrance Test, The Post Graduate Medical Entrance Test (PGMET) and the AIPGMEE.
Who is eligible to apply?
It is a must that the candidates be permanent residents of India. They must have the minimum age of 17 years at the time of applying. To join the program in pediatrics, interested candidates must have procured the MBBS degree from any college or institute that is accepted by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
How to prepare for exam and interview?
Candidates who are preparing for the written exam must be well prepared in the topic of pediatrics. They can get ready by either preparing notes by themselves or by going for coaching/ tuition. In addition to the lectures notes from class, the students can also collect more information from the internet or magazines. Another good option for the candidates is to cover each portion in a methodical manner. This will enable them to remember their notes. If they study and practice writing the notes, it will stay longer in their minds. When they are attending the interview, the candidates must be ready to answer personal questions along with questions about the related topic. They should be calm and honest while replying.
