A security analyst, also known as research analysts or financial analysts is an authority within the financial service sector. They perform various activities in the stock market. The can also seek for jobs in security firms, brokerage firms, mutual and pension funds, investment banks, merchant banks etc. If they have the potential, they can establish their own consultancy too. These analysts carry on their job as Sell Side Analysts or Buy Side Analysts or as independent analysts.

Qualifying Exam

The qualification criterion to become an analyst is a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Candidates who have a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree with prior experience in financial service sector are also eligible to become analysts. Those who have done the BBA programme or M. Com can hold on the position of trainees in the respective areas.

Who is eligible to apply?

To become a security analyst, candidates need to have computer awareness, mathematical, problem solving and analytical proficiency. He is required to have good communication skill so as to explain his findings and recommendations to the customer.

In addition, the analyst needs to have outstanding presentation skills and confidence that he can do the job hopefully well. With considerable knowledge about money markets and the economic scenario only, he can contribute to his fullest extent in his work.

How to prepare for the Job?

The career of a Security Analyst involves high risk. Therefore, the individual should be tactful in making decisions. With detailed awareness about shares and stocks, only one can carry on with the job. The candidate should also have logical and analytical capability. The financial analyst should built up much patience in his character because he needs to face so many people in his day-to-day life as a part of his job. Since the analyst deals with lump sum money daily, he needs to be very careful in his dealings. There is quite much pressure in the job. The analyst should have the capability in taking appropriate decisions in times of uncertainties.

    I am brijesh kumar yadav, i have done MBA with dual specialisation major was Finance and Miner was Marketing ,,, but right now i am working in a BPO with 1 year bond ….what should i do… i want to make my career in commerce/finance/security analysis field….
