Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission was initially established as Madras Service Commission under the Government of India. Madras Service Commission was established under Act of the Madras Legislature in the year 1929. Initially it was started with three members with only one chairman. Several commissions were constituted after the reorganisation of states. The name of Madras Service Commission was changed to Madras Public Service Commission in the year 1957. Later the commission name was changed again to Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, after the name of the state was changed into Tamil Nadu.

Job Profile:

Applications are invited from eligible individuals for the posts of Village Adminsitrative Officer and Block Health Statistician in Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission depending on their educational qualification and skills. Those candidates who have applied earlier in the case of Advt. No. 248 are not required to apply again at all.

Eligibility:

Candidates are required to be within the prescribed age limit set by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission for the posts of Village Administrative Officer and Block Health Statistician. Candidates should be in between 18 to 30 years of age as on 1 July 2010.

Educational Qualification:

Master’s degree from any recognized univerity has been set as the minimum educational qualification by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. Candidates having qualification less than Master’s degree should not apply on any of the post specified above.

Village Administrative Officer: Total 3484 posts are available.
Block Health Statistician: Total 49 posts are available.

Pay Scale:

Village Administrative Officer: Rs. 5200-20200 + Grade Pay of Rs. 2000.
Block Health Statistician: Rs. 5200-20200 + Grade Pay of Rs. 2400.

Selection Process:

Syllabus of the competitive written examination is available on TNPSC website. Candidate’s selection on the specified posts will be made through the conduct of this written examination only that will be held on 27 February 2011.

How to apply: The OMR application forms are available at the posts offices in Tamil Nadu/Puducherry on payment of Rs. 30 only. Candidates can also download the form from TNPSC website. The completed application form must be sent (by registered post or speed post only) in an envelope that should be addressed to:
