Profile:
Archaeological Survey of India was formed as a government organisation in the year 1861. Ministry of Culture is the parent organization of Archaeological Survey of India. The headquarter of this department is located at Janpath, New Delhi. The department is mainly responsible for performing the archaeolgical studies and the preservation of archeaological heritage of the country. The department actually came into existence under the various acts of the Indian Parliament. The main objective behind its establishment was the logical culmination of early archeaological initiatives in British India.
Job Profile:
Archaeological Survey of India is making recruitment on the position of Joint Director General in the department of Archaeological Publicatiosn and Public Awareness. Candidates will be selected on a one year contract. However, the contract can be renewed later depending on the performance of candidates that will be reviewed by Experts/Approving Authority. Selected candidates would have the responsibilities to create awareness amongst the people towards the Heritage.
Eligibility:
Candidates should be less than 62 years of age as on 30 January 2011 otherwise they will not be allowed to apply for the post of Joint Director General in Archaeological Survey of India. Candidates should have published research papers or reports on any aspect of Archaeologoy or Heritage Management in journals.
Educational Qualification:
Matser’s degree in Indian History (Ancient or Medieval) or Rachaeological or Anthropology from a recognized university or equivalent. Candidates with master’s degree in Sanskrit with Bachelor’s degree with Indian History (Ancient of Medieval) as one of the subject. Fifteen years of experience in the field of bringing out publications on subjects relating to Archaeology or Heritage Management. But out of 15 years experience, atleast 5 years should be in administration.
Pay Scale: PB-4 i.e. Rs. 37400-67000 + Grade Pay of Rs. 8700 will be provided as the salary to the candidates, who will get selected on the specified post of Joint Director General in Archaeological Survey of India.
Selection Process:
Candidates selection will be made by a search cum selection committee. The selection comittee will comprise of three renowned experts in the field, in addition to the official members. Selection of candidates made by this selection commitee is going to considered as final ones by Archaeological Survey of India on the post of Joint Director General.
