Ayurveda, also called as the knowledge of life, is considered to be one amongst the oldest methods of treatment in India. After finishing the course, candidates can find employment as doctor or medical officer with private as well as government Ayurvedic hospitals. It is also possible for them to begin their own practice. The remuneration of candidates will differ according to the institution they are working with and their professional reputation. Practitioners who are competent as well as dedicated will be able to earn more.

Qualifying Exam

There are quite a few courses offered in Ayurveda.  A student who seeks to go for these courses will be required to write an entrance exam. Some of the main exams in Ayurveda are -All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Exam, the Uttarakhand Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination and the Kerala State Entrance Exam. A few other exams are – the National Institute of Ayurveda Entrance exam, the Common Entrance Test and the AYUSH Entrance Exam.

Who is eligible to apply?

Candidates who seek to become Ayurvedic Doctors must first obtain the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery degree (B.A.M.S). The eligibility required to join the BAMS is a pass in class 12 with a background in science. The students also should have learned Sanskrit as a subject. Moreover, the candidates are also required not to be above 17 years when they apply for this course.

How to prepare for exam and interview?

An Ayurvedic doctor must primarily have self-assurance, good skills in communication and a caring nature. In addition to this, strong concentration powers and good counseling skills are required too. When the students are appearing for the exam, they must have prepared themselves well in all aspects pertaining to Ayurveda. They can read textbooks as well as other literature. This can be got from all leading book stores. Browsing the internet is also another good option. A lot of information could be gathered by doing so. When the students make an appearance at the personal interview, they must guarantee that they answer correctly without making many errors. Keeping a calm mind is very essential at these times. It will help them from making many factual errors.
