Central University of Kashmir was established in March 2009 with the name Central University of Jammu and Kashmir. The Transit Campus of the University came into existence at Sonwar in August 2010. The Transit Campus of the University commences the class work for MBA, M.Sc I.T & M.A English courses. The objectives of Central University of Kashmir are to spread knowledge by providing excellent instructional and research facilities, and to offer special provisions for integrated courses in Humanities, Social Sciences, Science and Technology.
