The state of Jammu & Kashmir is being served by a number of higher education institutions and when it comes to medical education in the state there are four medical colleges in the state according to approval list of the Medical Council of India. These four colleges are offering MBBS and even PG courses in the field of medicine with approval from the Medical Council of India and with affiliation from the Kashmir University and Jammu University, which are the prominent universities in the state.

Total number of MBBS seats in Medical Colleges in J & K:

Out of the four medical colleges for MBBS course in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, three colleges are permitted to admit 100 students per year, while one college has an approved intake capacity of 50 students per year for the course. Therefore, the total number of seats in Jammu & Kashmir for MBBS course in 350, which includes both state-quota seats and all-India level seats.

Management of MBBS Colleges in Jammu & Kashmir:

Out of the four medical colleges, two colleges are functioning under the control of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, while two other colleges are functioning under private ownership.

Entrance for MBBS admission in the state of Jammu & Kashmir;

Admission of students to the MBBS course offered in the state of Jammu & Kashmir is done based on the merit secured by the candidates in Common Entrance Test conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations.
