The secondary examinations in Karnataka are conducted by Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board. The Board has been established in 1966 and had been providing quality education from the onset. It has shaped lives of millions of students and will continue to do so.

Division of Paper

The Third Language Hindi Paper consists of 100 marks. The total paper is divided into 10 sections. The student is needed to answer all the questions. There are no choices.

Marking Scheme and Paper Pattern

The first section consists of 15 objective questions of 1 mark each. The second section contains 5 “Fill in the blanks” type questions of 1 mark each. The next part contains 5 “Match the column” type questions each containing 1 mark. The fourth section comprises of 8 “Write in one sentence” questions of 1 mark each. The fifth section has 13 questions which are to be answered in 2-3 sentences each containing 2 marks. The sixth section contains 5 questions which are to be answered in 3-4 sentences. Each of the 5 questions carries 3 marks.  The next section contains 3 questions of 4 marks which are meant to be answered in 4-6 sentences. The eighth section contains 2 translation questions of 2 marks each. The ninth section asks one to write a letter whereas the last section is essay-writing. Both of them contain 5 marks each.
