Karnataka State Women’s University came into existence in the year 2003 on the month of August and as the name implies the university is meant for higher education of women. All women’s colleges spread over the twelve northern districts of the state of Karnataka are affiliated to this university and the university has two campuses one at Bijapur, which is the main campus and another campus at Torvi.

Totally 70 colleges are coming under the jurisdiction of Karnataka State Women’s University, out of which 21 colleges are temporarily affiliated and the remaining 49 colleges are permanently affiliated to the university.
