The Karnataka Public Service Commission was constituted to advise the Government and other appointing authorities while recruiting to the civil services. The KPSC conducts Examinations for recruitments to such posts and these examinations are in accordance with the rules and regulations framed by the State Government. The Criminology Paper is an important subject for both the prelims and main examinations, where it acts as an optional subject in the main exam.

Division of Paper:

There are two papers for this subject of Criminology- paper 1 and paper 2. Both the papers are of 300 marks with each paper having four parts in it. Section A is of 20 marks, Section B of 100 marks while Section C and D are of 90 marks each. The questions are in both English and Kannada and the student has to answer them in the language mentioned in the admission ticket issued to him.

The Paper Pattern and Marking Scheme:

The 300 mark paper is so divided that the first three sections are compulsory for the student to attempt whereas a student is allowed to choose 3 questions out of the five in Section D. Section A comprises of 4 questions of 5 marks each, whereas Section B consists of 10 questions each having 10 marks. The answers in Section A are to be restricted to 50 words whereas one can go up to 100 words in section B. Section C has 6 questions to be answered in about 150 words each.
