The city of Lucknow is acting as the Capital City of the state of Uttar Pradesh and education in this city has attracted people from different parts of the country and the world as well.

Even though the city is famous for its chikankari, which is nothing but the embroidery work done in the city, the local government is presently focusing on the development of education in the fields of biotechnology and Information technology.

The city is the home for some of the popular universities like University of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Babasaheb Bhimroa Ambedkar University, Ram Mohan Lohiya Law University and for a number of colleges as well. Medical Colleges:

Out of the two government-run medical colleges in the city of Lucknow, one college is meant for allopathic medical education, while the other college is meant for homeopathic medical education courses. The allopathic medical college offers MBBS course and several other diploma courses as well. Admission to this college is made through the Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Entrance Examination conducted by Directorate of Medical Education and the All India Medical Entrance Examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. Out of the total seats available in the college for MBBS, 85% of the seats are filled through the former examination, while the remaining 15% are filled through later examination.

While the other government college for Homeopathic Medical Sciences offer BHMS course at the UG level.

Dental College:

The Dental Council of India has approved the Faculty of Dental Sciences of King George’s University of Dental Sciences, which is a government run institution and this institution offers Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Master of Dental Surgery course in the following branches:

Periodontics

Orthodontics

The Institute of Engineering & Technology in the city of Uttar Pradesh is one of the popular colleges for engineering in India run by the Government of UP. The courses offered by this institution are:

This college is offering under graduation course in architecture and post graduation course known as Master of Urban Planning & Development.

The Government arts & Science colleges functioning in the city are affiliated to University of Lucknow and for getting admission to these colleges, candidates must have completed their higher secondary examinations with good percentage of marks.
