The Common Admission Test (CAT) is carried out for the admittance of candidates to the master’s level courses that are offered in the Indian Institute of Management (IIMs). With the scores obtained in this examination, aspirants can also apply to other management institutions which accept CAT scores. The seats available in the IIM’s as well as in other reputed management institutes will be quite less when compared to the number of students who apply.

Until the previous year, the CAT exam was a paper based test. However it is currently a Computer based test. This means that the students can read the question and select the right response on a computer in the test centre that is designated by the institution. The application form for the CST exam can be got from the counter of the IIM or from the selected branches of the Axis branch. The students can download the form from the official website of the institution too.

Instructions to be followed for filling in the form

Students should make sure that they read the form prior to filling it. Only those candidates who are eligible to appear for the CAT exam must apply. The candidates must guarantee that they have provided all the relevant details in the form.

The candidature of the student will be rejected if the application is filled incorrectly. The application must be dispatched alongside all the documents that are necessary.

The students must give the form a final check before they send it. Doing this will help them find any error.

Exemptions to Be Taken Care While Filling In Form

• Students of the SC/ST category will have age relaxation of 5 years.
• Aspirants of the OBC category will have relaxation of 3 years.

Last Date for Receipt of Applications

The final date for receiving the applications was in the month of September for CAT 2011.

Acknowledgement of Exam Application Form

Once the institution receives the application, the Acknowledgement Card will be posted to the aspirants. It is to be received by the candidate within a month. If the same is not received by the aspirants, they are to make contact with the institution immediately. If the aspirants deliver the application directly at the counter, they will receive the acknowledgement card on the spot. If any of the applications get rejected, the student’s will be alerted of the same.
