Medical College:

G.S.V.M. Medical College came into existence in the year 1955 and the college has an intake capacity of 190 students for the MBBS course offered. Out of the 190 seats, three seats are reserved for government nominee, 28 seats are filled through CBSE pre-medical test and 159 seats are filled through CPMT. This college was initially affiliated to the Lucknow University and later with the establishment of Kanpur University, the college was brought under the jurisdiction of this university. In addition to the MBBS course, the college is also offering Lab technician training, diploma in pharmacy, Ph. D, DM/M. Ch and MD/MS in different branches of medicine.

Engineering Colleges:

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur:

IIT, Kanpur is one of the premier institutes in India and this institute was established by the Government of India. This institute is offering engineering courses in different branches like mechanical, material science, industrial & management, electrical, computer science, civil, chemical, biological sciences and aerospace engineering. Admission to these courses is done based on the performance of the students in the IIT-JEE examination. The institute is also offering courses in other faculties of education like sciences, management and humanities.

Government Central Textile Institute:

Government Central Textile institute was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the institute is offering B. Tech and M. Tech courses in textile technology, electrical and mechanical engineering. Admission to the B. Tech courses offered by the institute are done based on the performance of the students in the UPSEAT examination, while for the M. Tech courses admission is done based on the GATE score obtained by the students. Initially, this institute was affiliated to the Agra University and now it is working under Kanpur University.

Arts, Science & Commerce College:

Government Degree College, Akbarpur is also affiliated to the Kanpur University and the college is offering Bachelor of Arts course in different subjects like sociology, economics, history, political science, Hindi and English. For seeking admission to these courses, candidates must have completed their higher secondary course with minimum 40% marks.
