Vikram University came into existence in the year 1957 and the university is located in the historical city of Ujjain, which was previously called as Ujjayini. The city is well-known for its religious traditions and rich cultural heritage. The university was given this name in honor of the famous ruler Vikramaditya and the foundation stone for the university was laid by the then home minister of India Mr. Govind Vallabh Pant.
