What is it about?

The students who are studying Engineering have to clear Thermal Engineering paper. If a student fails to clear this paper, he is unlikely to get promoted hence; one can easily understand the importance of this paper.

Paper pattern

The paper does not have any set sections. There are total ten questions that are given to a candidate. These ten questions are divided into sub questions. The first four questions are divided into three sub questions and the remaining six questions are divided into two sub questions. The candidates are required to answer four questions out of the ten questions that are provided in the paper. The choice of questions is between the consequent questions. That means, a candidate has to do 1 or 2, 3 or 4, 5 or 6 and so on. A candidate is not allowed to choose any four of the ten questions that are provided to him.

Duration of the exam

The paper has to be solved within three hours. The time should not exceed three hours. An extra fifteen minutes are given to each candidate to read the paper and to clear any query that they might have.

Marks distribution

A total of 100 marks are given for the paper. A candidate has to attempt five questions and each question carries 20 marks.

About the subject

The subject lays stress on thermal part of engineering. The question paper is totally descriptive in nature. Each question is likely to contain one numerical sum as a sub question. A very good practice of numerical is required because the candidate has to finish them within the limited time.

The candidate has to have a very good practice of numerical. He has to get in the practice of solving the problems within a short time as there is no extra time for numerical.

If you want to get well versed with the type of questions that you are likely to see in your exam, solving the previous years’ question papers is a good idea. It will help you to prepare well in the exam.
