How to prepare for the NCHMCT Joint Entrance Examination?

The NCHMCT Joint Entrance Examination is carried out by the National Council Hotel Management and Catering Technology. This is held for the admission of students into the courses offered by the institution and other colleges that have an affiliation towards it. The qualification needed by one to attend this examination is a pass in standard 10+2.

Structure of the NCHMCT Entrance Exam

The paper carries 200 objective natured questions with multiple choices. The test has a time period of 3 hours. Applicants have the option to write this exam is Hindi or English. Questions will be from subjects such as:

  • Numerical ability and Scientific Aptitude
  • Reasoning and Logical Deduction
  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs
  • Service and Hospitality Aptitude
  • English Language

Aspirants will get a mark for each right response. Negative marking is present for incorrect answers. Negative marking is not there for the service and hospitality aptitude section.

Syllabus of the NCHMCT Entrance Exam

The allocation of questions is as follows:

  • Reasoning and Logical Deduction - 30 Questions
  • Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude - 30 Questions
  • Service and Hospitality Aptitude – 30 Questions
  • General Knowledge and Current Affair Section – 30 Questions
  • English Language Section - 80 Questions

Study Plan for the NCHMCT Entrance Exam

Students can prepare by reading newspapers, journals and magazines. They can also attend spoken English classes or practice learning English with their teachers. This is because that students need to have a good knowledge on verbal communication in addition to written English.  Aspirants can set a timetable and follow it regularly. On top of this they can also practice on old question papers. Apart from helping them analyze themselves, students will be able to time themselves. Besides this, they will be able to come in terms with their weaker points and concentrate more on it. Learning from their mistakes will help them a lot. Applicants must also be very much confident in themselves. Practising on papers like these will lend them more courage. They should also remind themselves to take rest at adequate time. If not they will get tired easily and won’t be concentrate in their exam.
