Regional Institute of Science & Technology, Ri-Bhoi District
Regional Institute of Science & Technology is shortly called as RIST and this institution was established by the ERD Foundation of Guwahati. The institute is affiliated to the North Eastern Hill University and the engineering and technology courses offered by the institution are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education and Ministry of Human Resource Development of Government of India.
Courses offered:
Regional Institute of Science and Technology is offering the following Bachelor of Technology courses, whose duration is four years.
• Mechanical Engineering
• Civil Engineering
• Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• Electronics & Communication Engineering
• Information Technology
• Computer Science & Engineering
Eligibility for seeking admission to the B. Tech courses:
For seeking admission to the aforesaid courses, candidates must have completed their higher secondary 10+2 with PCM subjects and should have secured not less than 50% of marks (45% for reserved & special category candidates).
Lateral Entry:
Candidates who have completed their Diploma in any branch of engineering with not less than 50% of aggregate marks (45% for reserved & special category candidates) are eligible to seek admission to the third semester of the B. Tech course in appropriate branch of engineering.
Intake capacity and criteria for selection:
The intake capacity of the institution is 60 students per course except for Computer Science & Engineering Course for which the intake capacity is 120 students per year. Selection of candidates are made based on the marks secured by the students in the ERDF CET examination and even candidates with valid AIEEE score are considered for 15% of total seats available for each course. Lateral entry candidates need not appear for the admission test, they are selected based on the marks secured by them in the diploma course.
Allocation of Seats:
Of the total number of seats available for all branches of engineering, 10% of seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to the state of Meghalaya and 33% of seats are reserved for girl students. Subject to the admission policy of ERDF, 25% of seats are reserved for students from different tribal/minorities and other backward communities. In addition, the management of the college reserves the right to admit 10% of total seats as management quota seats.
How to apply:
Candidates can obtain the registration form along with prospectus from the campus of the college or from the city office of the institute at Dispur on payment of Rs. 1000 in the form of DD drawn in favor of Regional Institute of Science & Technology payable at SBI Khanapara. The filled-in application form and DD should be submitted to the college.
