SNDT Women’s University came into existence in the year 1896 and the university is a public university acting from the state of Maharashtra with Mumbai as its home. The full name of the university is Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University with its headquarters in Churchgate Mumbai and the main campus of the university is located in Santacruz area of Mumbai. The university also has another campus in the city of Pune and it is exclusively meant for offering education to women students. The university has more than 70000 women students on its roll and the university presently has one more campus at Palghar other than two campuses and Mumbai and one campus at Pune.

SNDT Women’s University is offering education under 11 different faculties of education with 38 university departments and 26 affiliated colleges under its jurisdiction. Apart from these colleges, the university also manages three girls’ schools and it is actively engaged in extension, research and teaching activities. The university holds the pride of being the first university in the state of Maharashtra to get five-star rating from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
