Bihar Institute of Law, which is shortly called as BIL came into existence in the year 1984 and the institute was established by the Law Society of Bihar. The university is offering law education with affiliation from the Magadh University, Bodhgaya and with approval from the Bar Council of India.

Courses offered:

Bihar Institute of Law offers the following courses:

• Three-year Bachelor of Law

• Five-year integrated Bachelor of Arts – Bachelor of Law

Eligibility requirement:

For seeking admission to the three-year Bachelor of Law course offered by the Bihar Institute of Law, candidates must have completed their graduation in any discipline from the recognized institution or university with not less than 45% of marks. The upper age limit to seek admission to this course is restricted to 30 years and relaxation of five years is applicable to SC/ST or other backward community candidates.

For getting into the five-year integrated BA LLB course offered by the institute, candidates who have completed their intermediate or higher secondary or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university with not less than 45% of marks are eligible to apply. The upper age limit to apply to this course is 25 years.

Admission Process:

Intake capacity of the Bihar Institute of Law for both these courses is 60 students per year. Admission of students to these courses offered by the Bihar Institute of Law will be based on the merit secured by the students in the qualifying examination.

Library at BIL:

Bihar Institute of Law has a rich library with sufficient number of books according to the curriculum with law journals and reference books and computer facility to meet the educational requirement of the teachers and aspiring professionals. The library has a spacious reading room facility and library works for six hours on weekdays under the supervision of an efficient librarian.

Legal Aid:

Bihar Institute of law maintains close contact with the legal aid authority and the high court with a view to keep the students aware of the activities carried out by different agencies working in the field of law. The institute also plans to issue a placement cell shortly.
