Assam University is a taching cum affiliating university which is spreaded in an area of 600 acres.The university came into existence in the year 1994. Professor M. S. Swaminathan is the Chancellor of the university while Professor Tapodhir Bhattacharjee is the Vice Chancellor. The university has nine schools with 29 departments under it. The courses offered in the nine schools are Social Sciences, Languages, Life Sciences, Information Sciences, Technology and Management Studies etc. The university also provides Hostel facilities to its students.

Applications are invited from eligible Indian Citizens for filling up the following vacant teaching positions of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in Assam University. Selected candidates will be recruited in the headquarters of the university i.e. Silchar and Diphu campus. All the vacancies are available in various subjects.

Teaching Positions available at Silchar Campus in the Departments of Computer Science, Chemistry, Economics, Microbiology, Electronics and Telecommunications, Mathematics, Education, Sociology and Life Science:

1. Recruitment of Professor:
No. of posts: Only 4 posts are available.
Educational Qulification: Candidates should be an eminent scholar with Ph.D. degree in the concerned discipline with minimum 10 years of teaching experience in any university or college.
Pay Scale: Rs. 37400-67000 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 10000.

2. Recruitment of Associate Professor:
No. of posts: Only 6 posts are available.
Educational Qulification: Candidates should be an eminent scholar with Ph.D. degree in the concerned discipline with minimum 60% marks at the preceeding degree level. Minimum 8 years of teaching experience in any university or college is also required.
Pay Scale: Rs. 37400-67000 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 9000.

3. Recruitment of Assistant Professor:
No. of posts: Only 1 post is available.
Educational Qulification: Candidates should posses Master’s degree in the concerned discipline with minimum 55% marks at the preceeding degree level. Candidates should also cleared the National Eligibility Test conducted by the UGC, CSIR.
Pay Scale: Rs. 15600-39100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 6000.
