The paper introduces the concepts of electrical elements and analysis and synthesis of certain electrical and electronic networks. In analysis the network being given the object is to determine the aspects, i.e. circuit variables and parameters, and in synthesis some operating characteristics are specified and the problem is to find the network.

Importance of paper:

The paper is very important for students from electric and electronicsteams; it teaches the applications of simple network and circuit elements as huge networks and applies principles of Laplace transformation and Fourier analysis in the solution of problems. The paper is numerical based and so it is a very scoring paper.

Pattern:

There are a total of fifteen questions, the paper is divided into two groups; Part A contains 10 objective type questions of two marks each and part B contains 5 long answer type questions of 16 marks each, whichare generally based on the basic definitions, terms and terminologies of the paper. Part B has long answer type question which includes drawing circuits and writing their respective expressions.

Frequently asked questions:

Frequency and quality factor of RLC network, advantages of graph theoretic methods of network analysis-networks in terms of ABCD parameters, and two –port networks including open circuit impedance and admittance parameters.Nepal and decibel units for attenuation,Hurwitz,Propagation constant of a network, matrix formulations of network, asymptotic amplitude and phase response of networks, Pole zero diagram etc.

Total marks and time:

A maximum of 100 marks is given for the paper and a total of 3 hours is set for the paper.

Recommended Books:

  • Network Analysis and synthesis, B R Gupta.
