The paper of Power System Analysis is of the study in the field of power system in a grid, organisations and the proper distribution of this. The knowledge is also important as the field is very vast and good technical engineers are required.

Paper pattern followed generally

Electrical and Electronics paper is of 15 questions in it and these questions are divided into 2 sections. Section A is of 10 very short answer type questions, all are compulsory and of equal marks. Section B is of 5 long answer type questions, each is with its alternative and of equal marks. Most of the questions asked in it are of numerical type.

Questions which are asked more frequently

The paper contains questions such as purpose of symmetrical components, meaning by the term bus switching, Definition of mismatch, factors affecting the stability of the system , Differentiate steady state and transient stability, Y PR in terms of incidence matrix, expression for momentary fault current, Definition of per unit value of any quantity, Ohmic value of reactance of a winding etc.

How to prepare for the paper?

The paper contains mostly numerical problems in it and these questions are to be practised very carefully to obtain the full marks in it. Most questions are with a given diagram, candidates are always advised to draw them in their answers sheet. Also, every question of a group is to be answered in one place.

Marks assigned:

Total marks are 80 in this paper.

Time allotted:

Time allotment is 3 hours only.
