The full name of SEMCOM College is Sardar Gunj Mercantile Cooperative Bank Limited (Anand) English Medium College of Commerce and Management or SGM English Medium College of Commerce and Management. This institution came into existence in the year 1997 with the objective of offering quality education in the faculties of information technology, management and commerce.

SEMCOM offers the following courses with affiliation from the Sardar Patel University located in Vallabh Vidyanagar:

In addition to the aforesaid courses, the college also offers non-credit courses in mathematics enrichment, computer competency and English enrichment for the first and second year students of the BCA, BBA and B. Com courses offered by the college.

Eligibility requirements:

BBA (hons.) and BBA (general): Candidates, who have completed higher secondary in science or commerce or general stream or its equivalent examination with English and economics/house keeping/food & nutrition/geography/zoology/botany/computer science/computer applications/computer/elements of accountancy/elements of book keeping/statistics/mathematics are eligible to apply.

BCA: Candidates, who have completed higher secondary in science or commerce or general stream or its equivalent examination with English and statistics/mathematics/business mathematics/computer science/statistics and mathematics combined, are eligible to apply.

B. Com: Candidates, who have passed higher secondary examination in general or vocational stream with commerce group securing not less than 50% of marks with English, business organization/elements of accountancy and business mathematics/statistics/economics are eligible to apply.

Master of E-Business: Candidates, who have completed UG degree in any stream under 10+2+3 scheme or examination approved as equivalent thereto with not less than 45% or marks at the first attempt or at least 50% of marks in the second attempt are eligible to apply.

Placement activities at SEMCOM:

SEMCOM offers career counseling to each of its students to guide them in selecting a career based on their skill and interest. The institute strives to increase interaction between industry and academia by inviting experts for industry internship programme and summer training and it also conducts interest analysis for enabling the students to get a career and company of their choice in such a way that high retention rates can be achieved. The institute also develops and disseminates placement brochures to prospective employers highlighting the individual skills and achievements of the students and letters, e-mails are sent to prospective employers, alumnus of the institution in India and abroad, and for organizations that already employed students from the institution in the past for inviting them for further campus recruitments. The institute also arranges for campus placements with a view to optimize and ease the process of placement in the college itself.
