The institute is shortly called as AIIH & PH and it was established in the capital state of the state of West Bengal in the year 1932 on the 30th of December. The college holds the pride of being the only PG institute of its kind in the nation devoted towards teaching and research in different fields of health and related sciences. The administrative control of the institution lies with the Director General of Health Services, New Delhi under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Indian Government.

Affiliations earned by the institution:

The AIIH & PH was operating as a constituent unit of the Calcutta University and from the year 1932, the institute has been working in close collaboration with the faculty of School of Tropical Medicine in the Indian state of West Bengal. In the year 1953, the institute earned accreditation as International Training Centre from the UNICEF and WHO. From the year 2004, the courses offered by the institute are affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and the courses offered by the institution are also approved by the Medical Council of India.

Among the different PG courses offered by the AIIH & PH, Diploma in Maternity & Child Welfare course extends to a period of two years. For seeking admission to this PG diploma course, candidates must have completed their MBBS from the West Bengal University of Health Sciences or from any other equivalent university as approved by the Medical Council of India and West Bengal University of Health Sciences with one-year compulsory internship programme. The institute is approved to admit 30 students per session to this course according to the norms of MCI and WBUHS. Enrolment of students to this course is done based on entrance exam conducted by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences according to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India.

    After passing DMCW are you recognised by medical council of india as an obstetrician and gynaecologist ?
    are you entilled to perform caesarian section and other gynaecological operations.
