Jain Vishva Bharati University came into existence in the year 1991 as Jain Vishva Bharati Institute with the inspiration from His Holiness Acharya Tulsi, the Supreme Head of the Jain Terapanth Religious sect. The institute was awarded with the status of Deemed to be University by the University Grants Commission under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act in the year 1991 according to the recommendations of the Indian Government. The motto of the university is ‘right conduct is the essence of knowledge’ and therefore the university ensures that its students have the perfect conduct that can make them great citizens of the nation.
The university combines knowledge and meditation even though it is free from any religious affiliations. The university offers courses in subjects like Sanskrit, Prakrit, Jainology, education, social work, commerce and education at PG and UG level and it also offers some certificate courses as well.
