Orthodontics and Dentofacial is the basic skills of Dentistry which is related to the paper and it is mainly related to the irregularity of teeth, marks & bites, misappropriate jaw relationships and the different related problems.

Importance of the paper:

Dentistry is a noble profession and it will never go out of the fashion. Students who will complete their degree successfully will get a very good profession. In present time, teeth problems are very common and every 2nd person will have some teeth problem.

Paper Pattern:

Paper of Applied Basic Sciences is a compulsory paper in the course of dentistry. Total no. of questions which are asked in the paper to the students is 8. The problems asked in this paper are kept in 2 main divisions. Section A is of 2 long essay type or descriptive kind of questions and the other division, Section B is of 6 short notes type questions. All questions asked in the paper are compulsory to be attempted. Recently the pattern has been changed and there are no sections. Total 10 questions of 10 marks each are there in the paper.

Questions asked in the paper:

Questions asked in this paper are such as malnutrition due to deficiency of Protein and calorie, craniofacial region, deformities due to inheritance, heredity and its traits, retrodiscal pad, functional parameters in facial morphology, 21st trisomy, myosin and actin, thyroid hormone etc. Questions asked may be requiring to be solved with proper diagram.

Marks and time:

Maximum marks to be scored by the candidates in this paper are 100 marks and time in which the paper is to be finished is 3 hours only.
