Importance of the paper

The Safety and Fire Engineering is a very important branch of science. It is so because it deals with the safety of the various industrial processes that take place in the various industries every day.

Format

The general University exam format is followed where you get separate question paper and answer sheet to write down your answers.

Paper pattern

The paper pattern is just like other 8th Sem Cochin University papers. You should attempt 5 long answers from the given 10 questions. You are given alternatives for every question i.e. either answer Question 1 or Question 2, then answer either question 3 or Question 4 and like that.

Marking

This is a subjective paper where questions are of 20 marks and as you need to write 5 answers, the total marks is 100.

Few questions are like principle of safety requirement for buildings exits and stairs, advantages of color coding of pipelines in the process industries, safe storage and handling of the hazardous solid materials, basic requirements of a mechanical guard, role of safety trips in hazard control, fire tube and water tube boilers and its applications etc.
