Food Safety and Standards Authority of India was established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The authority is mainly responsible for laying down the science based standards for food and also to regulate the manufacturing, storage and distribution of food items in order to ensure the availability of safe food for human consupmtion. The authority comes under the control of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. Mr. K. Chandramouli is the present Chairperson of the authority. while Sh. G. Rahate is the Joint Secretary of the authority.

Job Profile:

Applications are invited from eligible and qualified candidates for filling up the vacant positions of Joint Director and Deputy Directors in Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. Candidates will be recruited on the specified technical services purely on deputation basis including short term contract or contract (outsourced). The initial period of deputation in Food Safety and Standards Authority of India will be of three years.

Eligibility:

Candidates are required to have age less than the prescribed maximum age limit set for the posts of Joint Director and Deputy Directors or else they will not be considered eligible for applying in Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. The maximum age limit set for both the posts is 56 years as on the last date for the reciept of application. Relaxation in age may be provided to the reserved categories candidates as per the rules of Government of India.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates are required to be Officers holding analogous or equivalent posts on regular basis from Central or State Government or autonomous bodies or equivalent etc. Candidates must also possess minimum five years regular service experience under Pay Band III.

Joint Director: Besides the above qualification, candidates should also possess Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university in the concerned discipline.

Deputy Directors: Candidates must possess Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university in the concerned discipline i.e. Chemistry/ Dairy Technology/ Bio Chemistry/ Agriculture Sciences, Food Technology/ Microbiology.

Joint Director: Only 5 posts are available.
Deputy Directors: Only 22 posts are available.

Pay Scale:

Joint Director: Rs. 15600-39100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 7600.
Deputy Directors: Rs. 15600-39100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 6600.

Selection Process:

Selection of eligible candidates will be made through the conduct of an Interview Test that will be held on a specified date. Shortlisted candidates will be intimated about the interview test through website or may be through post.
